Check Your Credit Report If you were evicted by court order, the court judgment will appear in the public records section of your credit report. If you owe money, the report might also include a collection account for unpaid rent.

Where does your rental history show up?

Contact your landlord or property manager. Your lease will appear in the “accounts” section of your Experian credit report, showing the date the lease started, your monthly payment amount and your payment history for the past 25 months.

Can I lie on a rental application?

If you lie on an application, more than likely the truth will be found out before the lease is signed. Landlords give the applications to potential renters for the sole purpose of following up on them. Lies about previous rentals, addresses and backgrounds will be found out. Criminal history will also be uncovered.

Even if you don’t have a lawyer, it’s very important to attend the eviction hearing. Otherwise, the court could automatically decide in your landlord’s favor (by issuing a default judgment).
