Renew the judgment Money judgments automatically expire (run out) after 10 years. If the judgment is not renewed, it will not be enforceable any longer and you will not have to pay any remaining amount of the debt. Once a judgment has been renewed, it cannot be renewed again until 5 years later.
Can I get a loan to pay off a Judgement?
You may qualify for a mortgage after satisfying your judgment. If you can, pay your entire judgment in full. Your credit report will be updated after the judgment gets paid. You probably won’t get the best interest rate and may need a larger down payment, but getting a mortgage will be possible with the right lender.
How does a judgement work in the US?
Once a judgment is entered and the period for appeal expires, the judgment becomes final. Then, the judgment creditor can file for garnishments of bank accounts and wages in states where wage garnishments are allowed.

How does a county court judgment or CCJ work?
If your offer of payment is accepted, a County Court Judgment will be issued detailing when and how to submit payments. If you do not reply to the Court Summons or your payment offer is rejected, the CCJ will contain a Court-determined payment amount. This may mean that you will pay more than you can afford.
