Can a debt collector call me if I am listed on the National Do Not Call Registry? Yes. Debt collectors and other companies you have business relationships with can still call you under the Do Not Call law.

Generally, debt collectors cannot call you at an unusual time or place, or at a time or place they know is inconvenient to you and they are prohibited from contacting you before 8 a.m. or after 9 p.m.

Don’t tell them your personal information or your daughter’s information. If you have caller ID or an answering machine, you can use them to screen the calls. Unfortunately, Caller ID is no longer a legitimate way to screen calls. It can help sometimes, but scammers are “spoofing” calls and can make the Caller ID say anything they want it to say.
